Record Breaking Media Coverage

Tuna Run 200

This was an extremely fun project to get to work on.

Ok some back story here… Bandwidth has an internal program called the “Epics Program” where they will sponsor an employee who decides to do something that would be considered epic. Like… run a 206 mile nonstop race AND attempt to break the record. This race, the Tuna Run, is typical run in relay fashion with 12 people, but Eric ran it solo.

Eric Hewell was the man who ran. Besides meeting about logistics of the race and sponsorship, I also coordinated all of the media coverage around the event. From announcements beforehand, to live updates throughout in the form of instagram updates and companywide emails, to capturing video interviews beforehand explaining what all goes into a race like this and his reasoning behind running. I also captured video and photos throughout the race as well. You can see some of this shown below.

Grand Traverse

In another Epics program entry, we had two guys, TJay and Noel entering into a 40 mile ski-mountaineering trip in Colorado, from Crested Butte to Aspen. This was the most intense video filming I’ve ever done by a long shot! The interview was pretty straightforward, fly out to Denver and record TJay and record Noel here in Raleigh, NC. Gathering the broll though… that was both the most difficult and most fun thing ever. Drive up to 11k ft elevation, throw on some snowshoes and hick along side the two of them to get footage and photos.

I was able to take this project from end to end, as of now (3/24) the actual race is next weekend, so we’re not even finished yet! Being able to go on a training run with them in such extreme environments was super fun, and challenging. The coordination of travel, making sure I had a second shooter assistant, rental of gear, and all the other small details really helped round out this project and create a stunning video!
